Two Kinds of Computer Graphics
1. Raster (composed of pixels )
- Raster images are more commonly called bitmap images.
- Bitmaps are composed of pixels.
Bitmap images have a fixed resolution and cannot be resized without losing image quality. - Common bitmap-based formats are JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, PICT, and BMP .
2. Vector (composed of paths).
- Vector graphics use mathematical relationships between points and the paths connecting them to describe an image.
- Vector-based graphics on the other hand are mathematically described and appear smooth at any size or resolution
